WordPress has been under attack by a malicious botnet recently! WattsWebStudio immediately ensured that all of our websites have undertaken the proper precautions to secure our hosted and designed websites.
The basic fix is the following steps.
First, if you have an active username that is the defaulted “admin”, delete it and create a new more original username in its place. The attack bots when attacking are assuming you might have the username “admin”… This is the most important thing to do and will probably be the only absolutely necessary step, though the next steps are also reasonably advisable.
The second step is to make sure the password is also unique and not easy to guess.
Thirdly, install security plugin such as “Wordfence Security” and scan your website to ensure you don’t have any malware existing.
Fourth, remove any extra themes that you are not using or plan to use in the near future.
